House Evaluations

House evaluations for Grand Slam, Mosquito, PeeWee and Bantam will occur on March 25th at Duvernay Fieldhouse.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS A SEPARATE DATE FOR RALLY CAP PLAYERS BORN 2010-2013 ON APRIL 5th with more information to come.

Duvernay Fieldhouse is the Dawgs Fieldhouse located adjacent to Seaman Stadium in Okotoks. Please bring a bat, helmet, glove and clean indoor shoes.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your time frame to check in and register. There will be no tshirts for evaluations- you will be given a number on your hand/sticker.

There is limited seating in the Fieldhouse and these are big groups of kids so please understand you will not be able to watch or go into the Fieldhouse area!!!!

After the evaluations you are free to leave. Over the next few weeks our coordinators will work to put teams and coaches in place, and work on scheduling based on numbers. You will be notified of all information by the third week of April at the latest, but hopefully sooner!

If you are an underage player evaluating in the higher division and do not rank in the top 10 in that division, you will be notified by our Operations Coordinator within a week and moved back down to your correct division.

Players will be evaluated by Dawgs coaches on hitting, throwing, catching (infield/outfield) and pitching.

If you cannot attend evaluations, you will be randomly placed on a team. If you evaluated last year, your evaluation score from last year will be used.

Rally Cap Updates for Parents

Welcome to the 2017 Rally Cap Season! We are looking forward to the upcoming season despite all of the snow. Some important dates and notes to be made aware of!

Rally Cap has 6 levels, each with a different colour of cap.  Kids are grouped by ability level and only play with kids of their same level.  This concept is great because everyone is on an equal playing field (pun intended!) and one or 2 kids are not dominating the game.  At each level there is a set of criteria that the kids work to complete (hitting, throwing, catching, etc.) Coaches will have a set of criteria and will check off skills throughout the season.  At the end of the year coaches will give each player on their team a report card. All of this information, including a Rally cap guide full of practice ideas and drills will be provided for you at the start of the season.

Teams consist of 6-7 players.  At each practice/game there will be 3 teams who rotate every 20 minutes.  2 teams are playing while the other team practices.  At this age parental involvement is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!  You will find at the beginning of the season that you almost need a 1-1 parent to kid ratio (especially at the lower levels), but as the weeks go by and kids catch on parents can start to back away.  Don’t be shy about getting your parents involved!  Your diamond coordinator will help with this.  Rally Cap is on Mondays AND Wednesdays, either at 5:30-6:30 OR 6:30-7:30pm. Your diamond, your team info and your playing time will be sent to you by your diamond coordinator after evaluations.  We are hoping to get started by the end of April (weather permitting).

April 5th- Rally Cap Evaluations to be held at the Okotoks Rec Center in the PIPER DRYPAD (if you are able to volunteer at stations and help this evening please email Lesley at admin@foothillsminorball.com)

4:30-5:00pm- 2013/2014 Birth Years

5:00-5:30pm-2012 Birth Years

5:30-6:00pm-2011 Birth Years

6:00-6:30pm-2010 Birth Years

7:00pm- Coaches Overview

**If your child played Rally Cap last year, please email Lesley at admin@foothillsminorball.com with final cap colour/certificate colour and you will NOT need to attend the evaluations/your child will be placed accordingly. If you are unsure of cap colour, please attend to re-evaluate!!!

***If you are unable to attend the evaluations this night, no need to inform us, your child will be placed accordingly, based on date of birth.

***At 7:00pm there will be a Rally Cap coaches meeting following the Rally Cap evaluations. If you plan on or hope to coach Rally Cap (and we need LOTS of coaches!!!!) please attend this meeting to go over the structuring of nights of play, drills, etc.

After the Rally Cap Evaluations, teams will be formulated based on cap colour, taking into consideration (but not guaranteeing) requests. Nights of Play are Mondays/Wednesdays.

You will be notified of your team, coach and diamond prior to the
anticipated start date of April 24, 2017 (weather and snow dependent!)
